THE MIND & BODY DISCIPLINE OF BIKRAM YOGA
Bikram Yoga is a series of twenty-six Hatha Yoga postures and two Pranayama breathing techniques designed to provide a challenging, invigorating, rejuvenating and effective yoga experience. During this 60 or 90-minute class, you will work every muscle, tendon, ligament, joint and internal organ in the entire body, giving you an incredible sense of well being.
Hot Pilates is an upbeat, energetic, 45-minute mat class that sculpts and tones your entire body, strengthens your core, and improves your cardiovascular system. Whether you choose it as a stand-alone workout or a complement to your regular yoga practice, you’ll love it!

Can you believe it? We’ve reached the halfway mark in our RYA training. Please don’t miss out on this unique opportunity. RYA classes are open to all, which means you can learn alongside our trainees and experience the special atmosphere for yourself. I hope, like me, you find it to be a wonderful reminder of just how therapeutic this sequence of yoga truly is. Did you know nine of the 26 trainees are from our very own Bikram Yoga studio? I can’t help but beam with pride as I watch these driven individuals pushing themselves as they follow their dreams.

“It was just… a quiet space. Sometimes that’s what you need.” Libby Hancock returned to these words several times as she sought to describe her Bikram Yoga experience. Forced into a position of finding her “new normal,” the studio has been a much needed source of peace for Libby since losing her daughter in an automobile accident caused by a drunk driver.
HOW THEIR BIKRAM STORY BEGAN
In the summer of 2014, 15-year-old Katie Hancock asked the leader of her youth group, Sue, if she could join her for an early morning Bikram Yoga class. Katie could be quite persuasive, making it hard for Sue to resist.
“She invited herself, not thinking of money and such,” Libby recalled with a light laugh. “When Katie said she wanted to go, Sue replied with, ‘No you don’t; I go at 5:30 in the morning!’”
But Katie managed to persuade her, and of course, other youth group members wanted to join them, even though it meant getting up at 5:30 in the morning—not a popular practice for teens over summer break. Katie was all in from her first class. She went every morning, sometimes taking two classes in a row! She quickly signed up for the 30-day challenge and committed to completing her challenge by July 25th.
“At least once a week, one of the teachers would say to me, ‘Ellen, that was really good!’”
Isn’t it amazing what five little words can do? For Ellen Kepas, this one sentence was fuel. It helped propel her from Back Row Joe, where she hid in the corner, to one who now takes a place at the front of each Bikram Yoga class she attends.
You see, like so many, Ellen struggled in the confidence department. For more than a decade, she basically hid from life, rarely leaving her home any more than was absolutely necessary. Bikram Yoga: Good for mind, body, & baby!
Borrowing from Jack Johnson, “Three, it’s a magic number. Yes it is!” It certainly is if you ask Alicia, Bethany, and Maria. These three have been the best of friends since their 20s and continue to do nearly everything together. Oh, sure, that’s easy to say, but it’s remarkable how true it actually is with these musketeers. For starters, they live in the same neighborhood, with two of them living directly across the street from one another. Of course, they attend Bikram Yoga together also. Three cheers for that fab fact! But, there’s more…
Without any planning, the trio discovered they were pregnant on three consecutive days. Wait. What?! It’s true. They discovered the pregnancies back to back to back and then determined their due dates were Aug. 8 (Maria), Aug. 9 (Alicia), and Aug. 10 (Bethany). Utah Jazz: Joe Johnson’s secret to making defenders sweat? Hot yoga
Joe Johnson was making defenders sweat. The 16-year NBA veteran looked like he had turned back the clock against the Minnesota Timberwolves last week, patiently snaking his way through defenders with confident dribbles between his legs, or bouncing on one foot, his right arm extended in the air until he had watched another 3-pointer splash the net, en route to 22 points off the bench.
It was a performance that might not have happened without his own perspiration — and a lot of it.
"This is the key for me at this time in my career," he said.
Johnson completes a 90-minute Bikram yoga class four to five times a week, sweating his way through the 26-pose routine in a humid, 105-degree room.
